About Shaishav

Shaishav, meaning childhood, is a civil society organisation established in 1993, working with children from marginalised communities. Our work spans urban slums in Bhavnagar and tribal regions in Narmada district, with a focus on holistic, child-centric development through play-based and participatory approaches.

Balsena – Children’s Collective (Bhavnagar)
A democratic, membership-based collective run by children, for children. Balsena creates safe spaces for self-expression, leadership, and collective action across schools and communities.

Aaranyak – Holistic Education for Tribal Children (Dediyapada, Narmada)
An experiential education programme integrating academics with life skills to build confidence, leadership, and self-reliance among tribal children.

Child Rights Training & Resource Centre (CRTRC)
A repository of field-tested, child-focused resources developed over 30+ years, aimed at strengthening organisations and practitioners working with children.

About the Role 

The Trainer – Child Rights Training & Resource Centre (CRTRC) will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging, participatory training programmes for diverse stakeholders including NGOs, educators, community workers, and children.

This role requires a strong grounding in child rights and facilitation, along with the ability to translate grassroots learning into impactful training experiences. You will play a key role in strengthening capacities across organisations and contributing to Shaishav’s larger knowledge-sharing ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Training Design & Facilitation
  • Design and deliver training modules on child rights, life skills, gender, adolescent empowerment, and participatory learning
  • Facilitate Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes for partner organisations and practitioners
  • Adapt training content for diverse audiences including children, youth, and professionals
  1. Curriculum & Resource Utilisation
  • Use and adapt SETU’s existing resource materials, manuals, and modules in training programmes
  • Contribute to development and refinement of training content based on field insights
  • Ensure training approaches are experiential, inclusive, and child-centric
  1. Capacity Building & Field Engagement
  • Support organisations and practitioners in implementing learnings from training programmes
  • Provide follow-up support, mentoring, and feedback to trainees where required
  • Engage with grassroots contexts to ensure relevance and applicability of trainings
  1. Research & Learning Integration
  • Integrate insights from action research and participatory learning into training design
  • Support participatory processes where children and communities contribute to knowledge creation
  1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Document training processes, learning outcomes, and participant feedback
  • Prepare training reports and contribute to organisational documentation
  • Share insights for improving training quality and impact
  1. Networking & Representation
  • Represent Shaishav in training forums, workshops, and collaborative platforms
  • Build relationships with partner organisations and networks
  • Contribute to knowledge exchange and advocacy efforts
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Social Work, Education, Development Studies, or related field
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in training, facilitation, or capacity building (preferably in child rights or education sector)
  • Language: Fluent in Hindi and English; Gujarati preferred
  • Skills:
    • Strong facilitation and communication skills
    • Experience in designing participatory and experiential learning sessions
    • Ability to engage diverse groups (children, youth, professionals)
    • Good documentation and reporting skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace

  • Strong alignment with child rights and participatory values
  • High adaptability and comfort working in dynamic environments
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Openness to travel for training and field engagement
Compensation

₹2.4 – ₹3.6 lakh per annum (CTC), commensurate with experience
