About Shaishav

Shaishav, meaning childhood, is a civil society organisation established in 1993, working with children from marginalised communities. Our work spans urban slums in Bhavnagar and tribal regions in Narmada district, with a focus on holistic, child-centric development through play-based and participatory approaches.

Our Programmes

Balsena – Children’s Collective (Bhavnagar)
A democratic, membership-based collective run by children, for children. Balsena creates safe spaces for self-expression, leadership, and collective action across schools and communities.

Aaranyak – Holistic Education for Tribal Children (Dediyapada, Narmada)
An experiential education programme integrating academics with life skills to build confidence, leadership, and self-reliance among tribal children.

Child Rights Training & Resource Centre (CRTRC)
A repository of field-tested, child-focused resources developed over 30+ years, aimed at strengthening organisations and practitioners working with children.

About the Role 

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening and implementing Shaishav’s child rights programmes, with a strong focus on Balsena. This is a dynamic role that combines content development, training, programme implementation, and monitoring.

You will work closely with facilitators and teams on the ground to ensure high-quality, engaging, and impactful programme delivery while contributing to documentation, reporting, and organisational learning.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Programme Planning & Implementation
  • Plan and coordinate Balsena, Balghar, and Leadership Academy programmes
  • Ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and evaluation as per programme plans
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and strengthen execution
  • Prepare monthly plans and schedules for programme activities and teams
  1. Content Development & Training
  • Design and develop activity-based, child-centric content and session plans
  • Train and mentor facilitators through workshops, observations, and feedback
  • Facilitate sessions during key trainings, events, and workshops
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation & Documentation
  • Maintain programme data (digital and physical) as per organisational requirements
  • Develop and implement tools to assess programme impact
  • Prepare monthly internal reports and external donor reports in English
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of programme progress
  1. Team Support & Capacity Building
  • Provide ongoing handholding support to facilitators through field visits and coaching
  • Identify training needs and design capacity-building plans for the team
  • Strengthen programme quality through continuous feedback and learning
  1. Communications & Outreach
  • Support creation of content for social media, website, and press notes
  • Share regular updates, stories, and data from programme implementation
  • Assist in organising events, campaigns, and community engagements
  1. Organisational Contribution
  • Participate in organisational meetings and cross-programme initiatives
  • Support proposal writing and donor communication when required
  • Represent Shaishav at external forums, trainings, and events (state/national level)
  • Contribute to other programmes (Aaranyak, SETU) as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Postgraduate degree in any field (Social Work, Education preferred)
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience working with children (academic or non-academic settings)
  • Language: Fluent in Hindi and English; Gujarati preferred
  • Skills:
    • Strong content development and facilitation skills
    • Experience in training educators/facilitators (preferred)
    • Good working knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace
  • Approach: Alignment with child rights, participatory learning, and grassroots engagement
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel and adapt to programme needs

Compensation

₹2.4 – ₹3.6 lakh per annum (CTC), commensurate with experience
