Key new donor recognises Shaishav’s important work

We are proud to announce we have begun a large new 3-year project funded by Comic Relief, one of the most high profile fundraising initiatives in the UK. Through an annual TV event and high-profile public fundraising, the UK public raised more than £75 million (approx. 6,447,206,700 rupees, $ 113,947,500) for Comic Relief this year alone – and Shaishav has received funds with our partner organisation, Childreach International UK. The project will strengthen Balsena, Tarunsena and Lok Samarthan Manch; as well as helping develop our area and ward committees. The committees will become inter-generational movements for community change. The funding will also provide support to strengthen our Child Rights Training and Resource Centre under which we are hoping to develop more resource materials for and related children, provide training to children, youth and adults, conduct Action Research, and  for continued state and national level networking and advocacy to ensure the voices of children are heard by the Indian government and around the world.

Receiving our grant is the culmination of 3 years’ hard work and it will raise our profile considerably with UK-based grant-making organisations. We will capitalise on this to be able to work harder for the children of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India and beyond.
