At this time of year thousands of migratory flamingos descend upon the salt pans on the outskirts of the Kumbharwada slum in Bhavnagar. This week we have been taking bus loads of our Balsena children out to see them. It was a lot of fun for everyone involved. We took binoculars so the kids could get a closer look, as well as a bird watching book with some facts about the flamingo birds. We also had a chance to play some games in the dried out salt pans as the sun went down before riding back into town when it became dark.
